''Caloptilia umbratella'' is a moth of the Gracillariidae family. It is known from Canada (Ontario and Québec) and the United States (Kentucky and Virginia).〔(Global Taxonomic Database of Gracillariidae (Lepidoptera) )〕 There are probably two generations per year. The larvae feed on ''Acer rubrum'' and ''Acer saccharum''. They mine the leaves of their host plant.
